Master Bedroom – Master the Clutter 2
Declutter the Master Bedroom – Part 2
It has been stated that one of the steps needed to work on a sleeping disorder is to unclutter your bedroom. But, as we all know, it’s not the easiest thing to do. It’s the place you change your clothes and dump the laundry. Also hide the Christmas present or just a general place to store the extras. Basically, the bedroom is used as a secondary attic. Storage!!
Well, your physician will tell you it is not the place to store. You need to keep it a calm inviting location to get the best night’s sleep. Last week I left you in the master closet where you tidied it all up, but did you dump it in the bedroom or carry it on out to its rightful place?
Let’s get tidy!
Before we begin, bring out those boxes again – you remember the ones: a giveaway, throw away and move to its rightful place.
- Get down under that bed and pull everything out and sort it in the boxes.
- Take everything out of the nightstands, sort it.
- Do the same for the bureaus and dressers.
Everything should be in a box and ready to be put up in its correct space.
Next step is to organize the bedroom for things that do belong in there. Find a place to empty those pockets, a place to put the laundry and if you do need to store something under the bed, buy a storage system that works for you.
Last, consider whether the items you have in the bedroom are really needed.
- Do you really need the chair or is it just a clothes catcher?
- Do you need all the books you’re going to read in the bedroom or just the one you’re reading now?
- Decorative objects you really don’t love anymore?
- Too many pillows?
Now you get to put everything away in its rightful place. Trash the stuff that is no longer needed or useful, and give away the things that will become someone else’s treasure.
A few minutes in the morning and in the evening to quickly tidy up will keep this room uncluttered and peaceful. Certainly ready for a good night’s sleep.
